Jack and the Beanstalk
by Graham Barraclough
Directed by Melva Coe

  Production date
1st - 3rd February 2007

The "Sold Out" sign placed on the door was a definite indication that the Milborne Players 2007 pantomime was exciting its audiences. Comments made by individuals after the performances certainly reinforced the feeling that after all the hard work by all concerned this production had been a resounding success. Yes the production was a conventional pantomime based upon the story we all know, Jack and the Beanstalk. It included a man dressed as a woman, the dame, girl dressed as a boy in thigh high boots, Jack, a real evil guy to boo, Scallwag, an idilic Jill, a pantomime cow who had mastered the skill of using a mobile phone, and, of course, a custard pie routine in which Jimmy gets it in the face. What more can be said?

Whilst the village hall stage size is a limiting factor in its productions, the Players were bold enough to include 17 children in the pantomime cast, and how well they performed and enjoyed them selves.

Under the direction of Melva Coe we hope that this pantomime production has made the Players some new friends and all the cast and supporting team thank the audiences for their enthusiastic support during the performances and look forward to seeing you in the future.
